Building on the Pork Quality Assurance program (PQA+) of the US National Pork Board – and the animal well-being training undertaken annually by all Genus employees – Genus PIC has developed a bespoke training module named ‘PIC Care’.
It covers the core components of effective care for animals and is designed for employees working on PIC-owned farms and those in regular contact with pigs in owned, contract or customer farms (such as veterinarians and colleagues in our Technical Services team). The module has been translated into multiple languages and is now one of the mandatory training courses that employees with routine animal contact must take each year.
