ABS uses pioneering science to develop bespoke breeding programmes that deliver more profitable animals for beef and dairy customers.

Focusing on traits such as productivity, feed efficiency, calving ease and udder conformation help us enhance the availability of high-quality milk or beef while aiding animal welfare and reducing environment impact. For example, selection for calving ease reduces injury or mortality, while focusing on feed efficiency and faster growth reduces methane emissions from animals.

As a result, ABS is creating cattle that are more productive, healthy, efficient and easier to manage. The rate of genetic progress is increasing and the impact for customers is impressive. For instance, when assessed using the Net Merit index in the U.S., ABS dairy bulls introduced to market in 2017 contributed $114 more to customers than bulls commercialized only a year earlier.
